Exploding Metallic Foils and Fuses: a Computational Modeling Update
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Los Alamos computational model of exploding metallic foil behavior has been used to analyze and design a wide range of experiments in which exploding metallic foils were driven by the output current of capacitor banks and magnetic flux compression generators. Currents in the experiments ranged from 1 kA-16 MA and foil conduction times ranged from 200 ns-300 J.lS. The successes and limitations of the computational model are surveyed.

Correlation of Metallic Fuse/tamper Chemical Reaction with Electrical Recovery
Recent experiments have been conducted at NRL which were designed to evaluate the chemical reactivity of exploding conductor fuses and to relate the chemical process to fuse electrical performance. In these experiments, metallic fuses including aluminum wire and foils, lithium-aluminum alloy wire, and copper wire were vaporized in distilled water. Additionally, less precise tests were conducted...
متن کاملSeismic Design of Multi-story Buildings with Metallic Structural Fuses
Seismic design relies on inelastic deformations through hysteretic behavior. However, this translates into damage on structural elements, permanent system deformations following an earthquake, and possibly high cost for repairs. An alternative design approach is to concentrate damage on disposable and easy to repair structural elements (i.e., “structural fuses”), while the main structure is des...
متن کاملFluorescence from metallic silver and iron nanoparticles prepared by exploding wire technique
The observation of intense visible fluorescence from silver and iron nanoparticles in different solution phases and surface capping is reported here. Metallic silver and iron nanoparticles were obtained by exploding pure silver and iron wires in pure water. Bovine serum albumin protein adsorption on the silver nanoparticles showed an enhanced fluorescence. The presence of polyvinyl pyrrolidone ...
متن کاملSize effects on tensile and fatigue behaviour of polycrystalline metal foils at micrometer scale
Tensile and fatigue properties of as-rolled and annealed polycrystalline Cu foils with different thicknesses at micrometer scale are investigated. Uniaxial tensile testing shows that with decreasing foil thickness the uniform elongation decreases for both as-rolled and annealed foils, while the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength increase for as-rolled foils, but those decrease for the...

Updating Optimal Coefficients and Selected Observations Affine Projection is an effective way to reduce the computational and power consumption of this algorithm in the application of adaptive filters. On the other hand, the calculation of this algorithm can be reduced by using subbands and applying the concept of filtering the Set-Membership in each subband. Considering these concepts, the fir...
